Speedtech

Hey all.

Just wondering, theres a place on 118th ave and somewhere around 150th st (Edmonton) called Speedtech, has anyone dealt with them? Are they just parts, or do they have a shop too?

they do have a shop as well as sell parts. i wouldn't suggest going there for parts, you can get better deals and more selection at Mopac or Performance Parts Centre.

only cars i've ever seen come out of that shop were nissans and s2k's so i have no idea if they know supras or not.

What are you looking to get done or purchase?

Last time I checked, they didn't have a single licensed mechanic in their shop. Be weary.

Calgary Speedtech is where I bought my Megans and had them installed last year sometime. They did a good job, I would recommend them for more universal stuff though (Steering wheel hubs, Lights.. blah blah).

I went to speedtech in calgary once for parts, and never again.

I think I paid double for a simple silicone reducer coupling, and [seriously] 6 times as much for an oil catch can... presumably because it said "Greedy", I mean Greddy, on it.

I don't even want to know how much it would cost to have them put a wrench on a nut there.

For that much I'll pay $20 more an hour and go to RCTS and know it's someone who knows what a Supra is. Speedtech may mistake it for a Honda and put stretch some 195's on it and an enormous wing.

Sorry, perhaps my disdain for the crowd I see gathered around Speedtech has left me with a bad taste for them.

For $97/hour I would want at least a licensed journeyman mechanic to work on my car.

$97.00 an hour? Is that how much shops are charging now? WOWSERS! It has been a while since I took my vehicles in for any maintainence that I could not do my self.

I have heard of speedtech, but never heard any positive or negative reviews about it.

I called a couple shops to do my coils and they all quoted me at the same price. I got hooked up with overnight for free and installed next day. Some of the guys can be kinda rude if you dont know exactly what you want, but most of the dudes I delt with there are very helpful. I guess it helps that all my buddies drift 240s or rock ep3s and such lol.
