is the guy at silverstone always an ass?

I call them up becasue I want to take my car in. He starts telling me I need a new turbo because I put 550's in. What the hell? After I argue that it isn't necessary, he tells me that there's nothing more that he can do than what I can do myself. Does he not need any business or what?

Is there another south side shop I can take it to?

yes, he is always an ass, no he does not 'need' more business. he thinks that cuz he has been doing this for 30 years that he is smarter than all others.

I think there is a lot of the newer mods and technologies that he is not up to speed on.

Ya that really sucks Simon. Unfortunatly like I told you, he might not be to helpfull. So the next step would be to try and find someone else. I would be willing to come by soon and take another crack it. The other night I didnt have much time on my hands. We can plan for a day I have more time and can get dirty, and try some of the things i talked about. Give me a shout and maybe this sunday will work. 907-7948
Just ask Mike. I hate to see a nice supra down. lol

yep, he did the same thing to my old man. My dad's office is reasonably close and one day he decided to just go see what was up at their shop and raymond basically told him to get the hell out of his store. It is kind of funny, as me and my dad in the end will probably be putting about 12-15K into our car (~8 already spent), money which wont be "talking" to him. Oh well, fuck him.

edit: oh yeah, and what are you attempting to do? If I wasn't heading to Australia next week I'd lend a hand..

funny enough, i was talking to a friend about this thread so he told me a tale of his first and only visit to raymond.

i guess he was saying "money talks" like he did to dobi so my buddy slapped raymond in the nose with a $100 and said "dis money dont like you"

money DOES talk.

depending on what you want done to the engine, a shop is likely your best option.

everyone seems to like EC, im not entirely a fan of them, but there are MUCH worse places to go.

i used to get all my bike stuff done at extreme machining, but it seems they arent taking any work right now, which is something, unfortunately due to the state of our economy, is becoming much more common.
